Architecture Report

Due: January 29

You are to prepare a short archaeological description of one side of a building (on campus or elsewhere) that contains significant elements from classical architecture.

Before you do this report, you should make sure you have learned and studied the basic terminology of classical architecture.  You can do this here on the class website.

Then you should select a standing building in your vicinity that has significant elements of classical architecture.

You should then prepare a written description of one side of that building.  You should say what and where the building is and provide a written description of the various architectural elements, from the top down, using proper architectural terminology and paying special attention to the classical elements.  The written description should be no more than 2 pages typed, although 1 page is fine.  This should be accompanied by a drawing (elevation) of this side of the building, approximately to scale, showing all the major features.  The assignment will be graded on accuracy, not on the beauty of the drawing!  This assignment must be turned in no later than the beginning of class on Monday, January 29.
